Volunteer

Lend your time and talents to the farm! Help us with gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, harvesting, and packaging fresh produce.

INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERS

From March through November, we welcome volunteers to join us every Thursday from 9am to noon. Join our core volunteers and staff in assisting with farm tasks and learn more about our farm operations. Advanced registration is required; to register, fill out this inquiry form.

 FAQs

  • It all depends on the time of year and the number of people at the farm on any given day.  Here is a snapshot of tasks that you may participate in:

    • Transplanting

    • Seeding

    • Weeding

    • Harvesting

    • Mulching

    • Building new planting beds

  • Closed-toed shoes are a requirement on the farm. Conditions can be muddy, so we recommend boots or footwear that can get dirty.

Dress accordingly based on weather (i.e. hat and sunglasses, rain coat, layers of clothing that will get soiled). If you have sensitive skin, consider pants and long sleeves to avoid sun exposure or irritation from plant contact.

  • We will provide all necessary tools for assigned farm tasks. You should bring a refillable water bottle and sunscreen. If you have medical conditions such as asthma or bee allergies, please let us know immediately, and bring any medications that you have been prescribed for these conditions (such as an inhaler or an Epipen).

  • Volunteers may be outside in light rain; please check the forecast and dress accordingly.

In the event of forecasted heavy rain or other inclement weather in the area, volunteers will be contacted to cancel the event.

  • We welcome kids above the age of 12 to volunteer if they are with a parent or guardian.

Kids under the age of 12 are not permitted to volunteer.

  • We love to host groups! In the past we have hosted corporate groups, field trips, and other student clubs. Group volunteer events must be coordinated in advance. To provide an optimal farm experience, we limit volunteer groups to 20 people at a time and require a minimum of 7 days notice from the time the event is confirmed. To book a group volunteer experience, email us here.

  • Our farm’s operating hours are Monday through Friday, so unfortunately we aren’t able to accommodate regular weekend volunteer shifts at this time. We will occasionally host Saturday events, including community “work and learn” days. Check our Events page for upcoming opportunities.
