We’re thrilled to welcome Danny Cowan of Red Tail Grains and Erin Torgerson of Seeds & Salt and Red’s Quality Acre to Burkett Farm!
Whether you’re passionate about sustainable farming, or you simply love making pasta (or, like us, BOTH!), this evening is an amazing chance to hear from two passionate local farmers and learn some new skills in the kitchen.
Red Tail Grains, located in Mebane, specializes in sustainably grown heritage and modern grains and corn, and is a fixture of Durham and Carrboro farmers markets and many local restaurants. Danny will share his story, covering some of what he’s learned in ten years of sustainable grain farming, and the necessity and challenge of farming these essential crops with respect to the ecology of the land.
Then Erin will put these fantastic products into practice with a handmade pasta demonstration. Erin is a farmer herself, overseeing the farm production at Red’s Quality Acre. She also runs Seeds & Salt, an ever-evolving project dedicated to learning and preserving the knowledge of those who work the land and eat what they grow. She’ll be demonstrating how to make egg-based pasta and semolina pasta by hand. You can also purchase a Pasta Night Gift Box to take home and practice what you learned! Each kit includes two different types of Red Tail Grains flour, some pasta tools, Erin’s pasta recipes, and a tea towel. Pre-order via the registration form!
Registration required via completing the form below. Each attendee must fill out their own registration form. Must be 18 or older to attend.
