Support Local Farms: Triangle-Area CSA Programs Now Open for Spring Sign Ups
As spring approaches, farms across the Triangle are opening their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) sign-ups. This produce shares, which usually start in late March/early April, offer fresh, locally grown ingredients straight to your doorstep or a nearby pickup location. Whether you're in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, or surrounding areas, joining a CSA is one of the best ways to eat seasonally, support small farmers, and strengthen the local food system of the Piedmont of North Carolina.
Subscribers of CSAs receive a weekly or biweekly farm share filled with a variety of the farm’s harvest - most include fresh vegetables, and fruits, while some focus on eggs, meats, and even flowers. Some programs offer customizable CSA boxes, flexible pickup locations, and home delivery options to cater to a variety of needs.
Why Join a CSA? Support Local Farms
CSAs are more than just a convenient way to access fresh, sustainably and locally grown food—they’re a direct investment in local farms. By committing to a season’s worth of produce, CSA members provide farmers with essential capital to cover seeds, equipment, and labor costs. This sustainable farming model helps small farms remain financially stable despite unpredictable weather and market fluctuations. It also fosters a deeper connection between farmers and their communities. As a consumer, there’s no better way to foster a direct relationship with the people cultivating your food.
